EIC Wins MEEA Inspiring Efficiency Innovation Award

MEEA award

The Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) bestowed its Inspiring Efficiency Innovation Award to the Energy Innovation Corridor (EIC) during its annual awards ceremony.  The MEEA Innovation Award is presented to an organization or individual that developed and implemented a new innovative program, idea or policy in the Midwest.

"This project represents energy efficiency at its best - saving consumers money, helping to reduce carbon emissions and preserving the environment while driving economic development," said MEEA Executive Director Jay Wrobel. "I encourage more regions to explore the type of collaborative, sustainable planning showcased in the Energy Innovation Corridor."

Winning the award is major recognition for all of the EIC partners, who have been collaborating to create a clean energy and transportation showcase for Minnesota by focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energy, transportation and smart technology. In a news release distributed after the awards ceremony - MEEA provided background on the initiative, highlighting a variety of programs and touting the remarkable results of the first 18 months: more than 450 tons of carbon avoided and an economic impact of nearly $10 million.

Congratulations to the partners and to the community. Thank you for your commitment and support.
